WASHINGTON–It’s Awards Season, and there’s been a major upset this year in the theatre scene as the Executive Branch is awarded the title of Best Improv Troupe of 2018. The Improv Academy unanimously agreed this year no other troupe has been as committed to taking the stage so completely unprepared nor so confident about building original, fabricated storylines.
There was some outcry from the improv community when former Executive Branch member James Comey was found to be taking detailed notes and memorizing lines surrounding performances. The Academy accepted his testimony and chose to overlook the misstep due to Comey’s participation being so brief. The same ruling applies to former state actors Anthony “The Mooch” Scaramucci, Steve Bannon and Sean Spicer, who made false claims of drawing a larger audience than Whose Line is it Anyway?
The Academy extends its congratulations to the Executive Branch on performances that consistently demand standing ovation. This award is just another way the Improv Academy is encouraging the arts and supporting our troupes.
